Nondumiso Tembe has a long list of credentials and training in the profession. She was a student at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, where she majored in Musical Theatre. She also attended New York’s New School University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in Theatre and a master’s degree in Political Science. Nondumiso received ballet and African dance training at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
She also has a degree in classical theatre from the British American Dramatic Academy. She earned a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the Yale School of Drama. Nondumiso received training at New York City’s Djoniba African Dance and Drum Center.
Career
Nondumiso Tembe after performing the titular part in Annie, she had a career-high point. Her outstanding portrayal of Annie in the theater production brought numerous opportunities for her. Nondumiso portrayed the role of Maria in Leopard Skin and she also portrayed the role of Thobile in another theater production titled, Mata-Mata.
Nondumiso Tembe also appeared in a Los Angeles theatre performance of Romeo and Juliet as Josephine Baker.
In 2011, she rose to prominence after appearing in a recurring role on True Blood. She was cast as a ghost Mavis in season four of the horror series.
In 2011 she released her debut album titled IZWI LAMI; My Voice. She made her first appearance on the hit television series, Generations in December 2013, where she played the role of Phumelele Miya, a fashion executive who grew up in New York.
Nondumiso worked as a vocalist and acted in numerous films and television shows both at the national stage and International stage.
