Clement responded to an advert for Skeem Saam auditions and he was called to audition in Johannesburg. Clement did not have money to travel to the auditions and he did not have any friends or relatives to assist him. He decided to call the Casting Director and inform him that he will not come to the auditions because of financial constraints.  However, the Casting Director insisted that he come.

A well-wisher gave him R350 to travel to the auditions but he didn’t have money to go back home. Luckily he was booked into the guest room while the Directors deliberated on the winner of the role. Clement was sent a pile of scripts and he knew he had landed the role.
