Educational background

Zonke Dikana completed her primary and secondary school education in South Africa.

She graduated from Masiphatisani High School in Motherwell. She graduated with a degree in human resource management in 1997 from the University of the Free State.

Career

Zonke Dikana has been in the field of music since 1998. She was greatly helped by her stepmother, Anneline Malebo who introduced her to several singers such as Ringo, Joe Nina, and Deborah Fraser she worked with as a singer or songwriter.

Zonke became famous for writing the lyrics of the song Africa, My Motherland for the band Jazzkantine currently known as Culture Clan; consisting of Zonke, Mandla, and Mzo. They released an album titled Africa in Germany in the year 2003.

Zonke Dikana‘s worked with Upper Street Records, Kalawa Jazmee Records, and TMP Records. She released one album with each record label;

  • TMP Record — Ina Ethe (2011)

Zonke Dikana recorded her first live album at the Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg, titled ‘Give and Take Live’ which was released by Sony Music Entertainment. The album went platinum.

She released her next album titled ‘Work of Heart’ inspired by the death of her sister Lulu Dikana in 2014.

She performed alongside Lionel Ritchie in 2016 when he came to South Africa for a musical tour.
