Career

Phumeza Mdabe entered the entertainment industry in 2006. She gained fame in the acting industry through her role as Phumi in the drama series, Sokhulu & Partners.

Ever since her debut, Phumeza has featured in numerous South African dramas such as Intersexions, Umtshato, Generations, A Place Called Home. She has also appeared in several commercial advertisements for top South African brands.

She is a singer signed with the music label Shota Music and has released several albums; Breathing Out, Hello Happiness and Just Listen. In 2019, she released the song titled ‘Jabulisa’ along with her husband.

In 2013 Phumeza co-hosted the South African game show, Cula Sibone. In 2014, she replaced Brenda Ngxoli as a host on the reality show, Our Perfect Wedding. Phumeza is currently hosting the show, Abandoned which helps children that were abandoned as toddlers to find their parents and family members.

Phumeza Mdabe is married to Mnqobi ‘Shota’ Mdabe and they have four lovely children together. Their last son Mpilo was diagnosed with cancer of the eyes bilateral retinoblastoma at the young age of two. He had his two eyes removed to stop the spread of cancer.

The coupke shared in an interview about the struggle parents pass through with very sick children. She is very proud of her son and shared recently that he had mastered the use of a bicycle as a blind child.
