Career

Rhulani Mokwena started his professional career as an assistant football coach to Steve Komphela, Cavin Johnson and Allan Freese at Silver Stars (now called Platinum Stars). He moved to Mamelodi Sundowns FC in 2014 and worked with the club’s youth team.

He assisted the first-team coach, Pitso Mosimane and together, they won the CAF Champions League in 2016.

In 2017 he moved to Orlando Pirates FC and worked as assistant manager to Milutin Sredojevic and Josef Zinnbauer within two years.

In March 2020 he got appointed as the first team coach of Chippa United. His time as the head coach was short-lived due to the outbreak of Covid-19. With league matches disrupted during the period, Mokwena oversaw a single match before his contract ended.
