Pallance Dladla’s Upbringing

Pallance Dladla was born in Soweto on the 22^nd of August 1982. Pallance was raised by his grandfather who named him after his favourite actor Jack Palance. The former Isibaya actor matriculated from Parktown Boys’ High School.

Pallance Dladla began his acting career in high school, while he was in high school he won the Parktown Boys High Original Script Award along with the Best Actor Award. He was the runner up of the Milk and Bread nationwide DALRO scholarship competition in 2010, where his self-penned play was a runner up.

Pallance won big in a DALRO associated competition with him winning the Most Prestigious Best Actor Award in the ACT/DALRO/Nedbank Scholarships Development.

Pallance Dladla got his breakthrough when he auditioned for Class Act in 2011. He was a runner up to his now friend and former co-star Abdul Khoza.

Career

In 2012 Dladla played a starring role as ‘Jimmy’ in the e.tv drama series “4Play: Sex Tips for Girls” in Season 3. In the same year, he had a cameo role as ‘Mohato’ in the British drama series “Wild at Heart”.

In 2013, Pallance portrayed the role of ‘Sizwe’ on “Intersexions” a drama-series on SABC 1. He also starred as the character of ‘X’ on Tempy Pushas. Dladla landed a starring role in the Mzansi Magic soap opera “Isibaya” where he played the role of ‘Jabulani “Jabu” Zungu’.

Dladla received acclaim for his performance as a supporting actor in the action movie iNumber Number in 2013.

Pallance played the character of ‘Sibusiso Vilakazi’ on e.tv’s Rhythm City in June 2014. He was also cast in the romantic drama film ‘Hard to Get’. He had a recurring role as ‘Duke’ in the Mzansi Magic drama “Is’thunzi” from 2016 – 2017.

In 2019, Dladla starred in the Netflix thriller series Shadow as title character ‘Shadrach “Shadow” Khumalo’.

Awards

Pallance Dladla won three awards in 2010 which include Best Original Script Writer in the award winning Parktown Boys’ High Play and Best Actor for his work in the Parktown Boys’ High’s play “Bread and Milk”. The third one is Best Actor Award of the internationally recognized Scholarship Program.

In 2013 Pallance won the Golden Horn Award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Drama Series for his performance in “4Play: Sex Tips for Girls”. He won the Golden Horn Award for Best Supporting Actor in a TV Soap for his role as ‘Jabu’ in Isibaya in 2018.
